On the 19th of December, Mana Island Resort and Spa invited 17 children undergoing cancer treatment to the island for a special treat and to be part of the resorts E – day Program. The children travelled from Suva with their parents, and were welcomed by the Mana management and E- team.

The children were also accompanied by the Fiji Cancer Society President, Rajshree Baleisuva. The children took part in coral planting and later released a hawksbill turtle who was named Raj, after Mrs Baleisuva, in recognition for her commitment and support to the cancer society. Hawkbill ‘Raj’ was tagged and then released into the ocean by Lagilagi – a brain tumor patient. Lagilagi requested that everyone on the beach bid ‘Raj’ bon – voyage with the old time Fijian favourite “Isa Lei” drawing tears from the waving onlookers as ‘Raj’ swam away.

The event was one of its kind also with the presence of MES sponsors, Vonu – Pacific Island Beverages team, who made sure to catch every special moment with the children on camera. Mana Island Resort then presented the children and their parents with gifts and carvings of sea turtles. The children returned to mainland on the same day.

MES would like to thank Vonu and Mana Island Resort for such a great initiative.
