The looks said it all when the chosen few from Malolo District School were taught the art of dot painting by well known environmental artist, Ron Stevens. Canadian by nationality and loveably crazy by nature according to MES Project Manager Alifereti Qauqau, Ronnie or Rogest took to task a group of 15 students from Malolo for a 2 half day painting workshop as part of the Kids Sea Camp programme hosted on Qalito Island by Castaway Island, Fiji.
“There are many ways of spreading the gospel of environmental conservation. I am excited that Ron as an expert in one of these ways, environmental painting, and is able to share his wealth of knowledge with young people, who will one day be future leaders and decision makers for our tomorrow”, says Mr. Takala, the head teacher for the school.
The workshop concluded with the auctioning of the paintings by Ronnie himself to visiting guests who were part of the Kids Sea Camp at Castaway Island, Fiji. Funds collected from the auction were donated to the Mamanuca Environment Society to assist them in their conservation works.
