The ‘Refresher Course’ is another of MES ongoing projects, with the goal to educate resort staff on various environment topics. MES conducts refresher courses for all its interested member resorts once a year. The refresher topics were mainly on Marine Conservation Program mainly highlighting Reef Check, Coral Planting, Giant Clam Farming, Crown-of-Thorns Monitoring, and Best Snorkeling Guidelines. The main purpose of the refresher is to empower the participants on such information and guideline that will aid them in their work on promoting sustainable tourism through environmental protection.

Castaway Island Resort kick start the training with the involvement of 12 Staff from various departments namely Activities, Front Office, Marine and Human Resources. The session was divided into two; the morning session and the afternoon session whereby the activity was to make coral cookies for Coral planting program and briefing scenario for Best Snorkeling guidelines. “The training was enlightening thus information shared helps me understand the importance of preserving our marine life” stated Inoke Naqasima, Front Office Manager at Castaway Island Resort. For Likuliku Lagoon Resort had only one session with a total of participants of 15 staffs. Samuela Naitau, Activities Manager added “The awareness was very informative and enlightening”
