Reef Check has begun for all MES member resorts from late October to present. The reef check survey is another service that MES provides for its members, to help them identify the problems that might exist within their working area that could affect the marine ecosystem.

Two sites are selected to be surveyed on every resort house reef. Standard reef check methods adapted from Reef Check Foundation is used [www.reefcheck.org].  Parameters surveyed are Substrate, Fish Abundance, Invertebrates Abundance and Coral Types.

Member’s house reef that has already been surveyed includes Malolo, Likuliku, Castaway, South Sea Island and Mana, Tavarua and Tokoriki Member house reef yet to be surveyed are Matamanoa, Namotu. and Navini.

MES hopes to complete all reef check surveys before  the end of the year.  MES would also like to thank the management of all of its member resorts on assisting and facilitating with the  reef checks surveys.
