Families of children who gathered for the third Kids Sea Camp (KSC) at Castaway Island Resort departed the Island with tears in their eyes. The fun filled one week event was a success and also a memorable one for all.

The first KSC began in 2006 after which the lead organizer Margo decided that she had found the perfect venue to stage following camps. Normally, a venue was never repeated and always shifted to new locations. For Castaway Island Resort, the norm was broken. The Island Resort hosted three camps in a row from 2006 to 2008.

“We love the Island atmosphere and the staff helped put the icing on the cake. They are one of the reasons why my wife and I had decided to bring the camp back here”, Tom said.

The week long camp took place from the 22nd to the 29th of November 2008. The 122 campers were kept occupied throughout the week with fun filled activities organised to suite the different age categories – Sassy (4-7yrs), Seals (8-12yrs), Teens (13-16yrs) and the Adults. Activities ranged from beach games and treasure hunts to fish feeding and snorkelling on the reefs and scuba diving to depths of more than 25 meters. Participants of the environment awareness and education programmes prepared by MES were aged between 4 to 16 year olds. This was another perfect opportunity for MES to show case their conservation work and also to spread the word about good environment practices for the snorkeller and divers to take heed of.
