Once again the school children in the Mamanucas have embarked on their new years’ journey with a taste of conservation. The two schools undertaking the marine education and awareness program are Mamamanuca Primary School (NPS) and Malolo District School (MDS). Participating students are between the ages of 12 and 14 years and are in class 7. To spice up the program this 1st school term, the students are also part of a coral reef competition organised – Secretariat of the South Pacific’s Regional Environment Program. The competition includes poster making and coral reef challenge activities such as selecting a coral reef area and nurturing it. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the competition.
