The staff and members of the MES were humbled on the 8th day of the 8th month of the year 2008 as they received a mammoth donation of FJ$25,000 from ANZ Bank’s Fiji leader Robert Bell. The donation will assist in sustaining projects that are currently carried out by Mamanuca Environment Society. It has been 3 years now since ANZ started assisting MES with its efforts to address environmental issues and to better the region’s marine and terrestrial environment. Their financial contribution, apart from that of MES members, we are indebted to for the successful continuation of our work in the region, Betani said.

While delivering his speech, Mr. Bell highlighted that ANZ was happy to support MES’s work in educating people to great a better future for Fiji. Education and awareness will in the long run have a wider impact than just policing environmental issues.

Representing the Society at Castaway Island Resort, hosts of the prestigious event, were committee members – Ronnie Chang (Treasurer), Steve Anstey, Serupepeli Naitau and MES staff – Betani Salusalu, Fesi Isimeli and Diana Nagatalevu.
