A tropical depression later upgraded to a category 1 cyclone was located about 220km southeast of Lakeba at 3pm.

It hit the Fiji group during the week and was moving southeast at about 25km/hr with associated active cloud and rain bands continuing to affect the eastern parts of the group.

 

The heavy rain warning remained for the Lau group which was expected to ease later in the evening. However, the warning was initially issued for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Kadavu, eastern Viti Levu and Lomaiviti group which was later been cancelled.

Occasional showers and few thunderstorms were still remain for some parts of the group and strong west to northwest winds with average speed of 45 to 55km/hr. and momentary gusts to 80km/hr. over the Lau group and very rough seas.
