MES is enjoying the service and commitment of three volunteers who sacrificed their semester breaks to be part of the organisation activities. The three who are with the team until the start of the new semester are having a great time enjoying the environment and at the same time contributing towards the organisations objectives. The trio includes Nomai Nailatica and Ilisapeci Botevou both from Tailevu and Leba Digitaki from Lau. Nomai and Leba are completing their studies at the University of the South Pacific while Ili is currently enrolled at the Fiji National University.
Part of their commitment saw the trio landing their first task in community engagement. They were part of the cleanup campaign that was organised by MES and was conducted at Yaro and Solevu Village in Malolo Island. The clean up completed a success and the team left the village putting a smile to every villager’s face, something that will be remembered by natives of both villages which the three contributed to in a huge way. They were also part of the beach underwater clean up that was held at Castaway Island Resort and were very handy in helping everyone participating on that day.
They have been part of the organisation that surely has install in them some grassroots understanding of contributing to conservation work. “Doing volunteer work with MES has broadened my knowledge of understanding our environment,” said Ili. Leba elucidated that she finds volunteering with MES interesting, exciting and fun while Nomai had gained much confidence and skills in conducting conservation works.
The trio are truly having a great time while at MES and the organisation is thankful for having them, and they are all looking forward to the start of the new semester where they will return to university to continue with their studies. MES again, wishes them the best with their studies and future endeavour.
