Labelled as the China Elite, the group represents six top magazines from China that visited the Mamanuca’s in light of marketing Fiji to the Chinese tourism market. The six magazines represented by senior editors and feature editors include four travel consumer magazines; Travel + Leisure China, Voyage, National Geographic Traveller and Travelling Scope, and two Lifestyle magazines; Elle and The Bund.

The group visited the Mamanuca’s as part of their writing travels sighting holiday destinations in Fiji. The group chose Likuliku Lagoon Resort, as one of their island hop stops to experience island hospitality and conservation programs that Likuliku is engaging in. MES was invited by Tourism Fiji to present on the conservation work done in the Mamanuca’s.

The group left Denarau by a special charted boat arriving on Likuliku Lagoon Resort at 11am. Welcomed by the superb meet and greet team at the jetty the group was offered Likuliku’s famous island made welcome drink of refreshing minty iced tea along with cold towels. Once refreshed from the boat ride, the group was taken on a tour of the resort, sighting the different rooms and bures that Likuliku has to offer, swimming pool, dinning, desalination plant, and the environment projects on Likuliku; plant nursery, viewing clams from the jetty, mangrove conservation and the iguana captive breeding program. At the end of the tour, the group listened in on a power point presentation by MES on projects in the Mamanucas focusing on the projects on Likuliku and their importance.to sustainable tourism in the region.

At the end of the power point presentation, the group was surprised by Ahura’s General Manager, Steve Anstey, with a Crested Iguana from the Captive Breeding area . The group went ecstatic at the sight of the iguana held by Mr Anstey, with all keen on a photo opportunity with the Iguana

Xie Yiqing, of Travel Scope said , “ I really love learning about the poor iguana’s and just watching it” . Vanessa Liu, Cohn & Wolfe accounting executive, was inspired by the presentation by MES stating that MES and Likuliku is doing a tremendous job for the plight of Iguana’s in the Mamanuca region. Vanessa was so keen to learn more about MES, she was then provided with the MES website details to tap into.
